Work for the art world.

Every gallery in this town has the same problem in September. The catalog needs to be designed, the new work needs to be photographed properly, three artists need portraits for the press release, and everyone finds out at once that the person who usually does it is already booked.

I photograph artwork for reproduction, shoot the artists, and design the things the work goes into. One studio, one set of files, one person to call.

Artwork photography

Flat art, three dimensional work, jewelry, glass, textiles. Color accurate, evenly lit, shot to a profile so what comes off the press matches what is on the wall. Delivered at print and web resolution, with the files named the way your database wants them.

Artist portraits

For gallery bios, press releases, catalog back matter, and the wall by the door. Shot in the studio, at the gallery, or in the artist's own space, which is usually the better picture.

Catalog and exhibition design

Catalogs, checklists, price lists, wall texts, labels, invitations, and ads. I have designed things that were printed and hung, so I know what a bad file costs you three days before an opening.

Openings and events

Coverage for openings, gallery walks, and receptions. Fast turnaround, so the images are still useful while the show is up.

Book ahead

Fall Arts Festival runs September 9 to 20 this year. Western Visions is up September 5 to 27. Catalog and photography work for that window gets commissioned in June and July. If you are reading this in August, call.
